A different experience in Costa do Sauípe, those who come to our resort can visit the Berimbau Project on the Costa do Sauípe, an incredible workshop to participate in during your vacation trip.
The project is organized by the Berimbau Institute, a partnership established through Copartt (Tupinambá Braided Handicraft Cooperative), which offers the practice of braiding workshops on piaçava straw with artisans.
How the activity works
The handicraft of the piaçava (a palm tree) is one of the traditional activities of the communities in the region. During the workshops, basic craft techniques are passed and you can learn, in practice, how to assemble various accessories.
At the end, it is possible to bring a small piece developed during class. They are open to guests and require no prior appointment, so when you arrive at the resort, just search and start practicing

Institute was created with the objective of acting as a catalyst for local development in the Bahian region and contributing to generating work and income, in addition to encouraging
the strengthening of community entities. The institute, which is supported by the Costa do Sauípe resort, is divided into four cooperatives: recycling (VERDECOOP), artisans (COPARTT), fishermen (COPEMAR) and family farming. In addition, there is support for a nursery school (Meninos do Porto Project) and several other initiatives.
