An enthralling spectacle of nature

Since 2000, Costa do Sauípe has partnered with the Tamar Foundation to protect sea turtles in Brazil. The region is one of the main spawning spots in the country, so we release puppies during the season, in addition to internal training on the importance of environmental preservation. To date, about 9,000 spawns have been protected and more than 500,000 young have been returned to the sea

.

What is looseness?

Baby sea turtles usually leave their nests during the night to protect themselves from the sun and predators. The base of the Tamar Foundation in Costa de Sauípe promotes the release of chicks that were unable to reach the surface and leave the nest. As a result, they are collected and released to the sea, in Soltura Beach, ensuring that endangered species complete their reproductive cycle

.

What species are protected by the project?

  • Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta caretta)

  • Turtle - Oliva (Lepidochelys olivacea)

  • Hawkeye turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata)

  • Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas)
